How to apply self-adhesive foil

Clean the surface with an all-purpose cleaner and wipe dry. Gekkofix self-adhesive vinyl can be applied to most smooth non porous surfaces. Such as laminated wood, plastic, glass, etc.

Measure the surface you want to apply the foil to. Measure out the foil in regards with the surface. For best results, add  1cm extra to your measures and cut the material off the roll.

After you cut the needed material, choose a corner according to the direction of the design and separate the backing paper. For best results, separate only a few centimeters across the width.

Apply the vinyl to the surface. Depending on the surface you apply to, press the material down from the middle to the sides. Push the bubbles of air to the edges with a squeegee or a cloth and simultaneously pull the backing paper off. Do this slowly and if needed, reapply the vinyl to get as much bubbles out as possible.

Once you removed all of the backing paper and pushed out most of the bubbles, find the edges of the surface and push the vinyl downwards to create a natural edge. Cut the excess off with a sharp knife/scalpel.

If there are any air bubbles still trapped under the surface, you can try pushing them out to the edges with a squeegee or a cloth. For very stubborn air bubbles you can puncture small holes with a needle and push the air out with a cloth.

How to apply static window foil

Click on the text for a more detailed explanation. Remember, you can reapply your static window foil many times. Just clean the smooth surface of the foil and apply to a wet window.

Clean the window and remove any excess dirt or fat. After cleaning, spray the window with water generously.

Measure the window and measure and cut the static window foil. Add a few centimeters extra to your measures, for best result. Remove the clear backing from the static foil and apply the smooth surface to your window. Apply the foil to the window and spray water on top of the foil.

Position the static foil on the window using the water layer on the surface. Use a squeegee or a cloth to push the air bubbles and the water from the center of the foil towards the edges. Remove the foil, spray extra water and repeat this step until you removed all the air bubbles.

Once you are satisfied with the positioning of your foil and removed all the air bubbles, use a knife or a scalpel to cut off the excess static foil at the edges of the window.
